Sensex Up 78.28 Pts; Nifty Surges 18.20 Pts Indian stock markets bounced back during morning trade today to recover some of its earlier losses. At 9:20 a.m., the 30-share index Sensex gained 78.28 points (0.40%) to trade at 19,538.13 with 18 components in the positive terrain.


In the meantime, the broad-based Nifty remained up by 18.20 points (0.31%) to trade at 5,883.95 with 27 components topping the gaining charts.


Today, the BSE Sensex belled the day after gaining 100.40 points (0.52%) at 19,560.25, whereas the Nifty began after surging 81.05 points (1.38%) at 5,946.80.






The top movers in the Sensex list comprised ICICI Bank, which surged 1.95%; Tata Motors gained 1.84%; Mah & Mah zoomed 1.28%; Tata Steel climbed 1.19%; Hindalco Industries increased 1.18% and HDFC Bank was up by 0.94%.


In contrast, JP Associates declined 2.72%, SBI fell 0.96%, Tata Power Company dropped 0.71%, RComm decreased 0.52%, ITC dropped 0.40% and HUL remained down by 0.40%.


Among sectoral indices, the Auto index gained 107.39 points; the Consumer Durables index surged 61.12 points; the IT index upped 38.40 points and the Realty index remained down by 53.21 points.


The overall breadth of the stock market was positive as it saw 716 advancements as against 302 declinations.
