New Delhi: School children and activists here on Friday remembered Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and took a pledge to fight terrorism on the eve of his 113th birth anniversary. Leading a march at Subhash Chandra Bose Park in the city was Anti-Terrorist Front chairman M S Bitta who said the birth anniversary of Netaji “provides us an opportunity to remember our great freedom fighters”. “Let’s take a pledge to fight terrorism, including political terrorism on this day. Together we can and together we will do it. Rukhsana and her brother provide us an example in fighting terrorism,” he told the children.
Rukhsana and her brother, two youngsters hailing from Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, killed a top Pakistani militant and injured another after a group of ultras barged into their house in Shahdra Sharief village on September 27.
Netaji’s slogans — “Give me blood and I will give you freedom” and ‘Jai Hind’ — reverberated in the air.
Bose was born on January 23, 1897 in Cuttack, Orissa.
